Soul Fire Saints Feedback for Music Video

We have collected feedback from Soul Fire Saints and acted upon it accordingly to create a video that successfully promoted the band and met our brief.

Evaluation

For our video we need to:

Identify areas for improvement; we need to complete our video by finishing adding the footage in the chronological order of the narrative. We need to watch the footage over and identify any mistakes in the footage and edit them out.

Apply extended editing techniques; we need to continue to thoroughly edit our footage by changing the colour of certain shots, cutting specific shots and adding transitions.

Evaluate any technical support; we need to ensure that the television screen video is properly in situ with no unnatural movement.

LO2: Feedback on Rushes

Everyone who completed our survey was in agreement that the rushers we presented are in keeping with our original idea. Also we had good feedback on our progress so far; that our footage clearly demonstrates our concept, and with our editing styles and overall progress. In response to whether any improvements need to added people either didn't have any suggestions or wanted to see more camera angles in the scenes.

Objective for 7/4/14

For our final week before Easter we aim to:

- Complete our editing for our music video
- Finish all of the relevant documents and get them signed
- Collect feedback from the band on the music video so far

Contingency Plan

If everything goes to plan, we will be filming our music video on Saturday 29th March at 8:00am at Knowle Hill Care Home in Halfway. However, here is our contingency plan, just incase anything goes wrong.

Incase the venue we want is unavailable we have secured another venue to use instead; one of the band members mother-in-law's house. It will be available at the same time we plan to use the original venue.

Incase the make-up artist is unavailable (so far, she has not been in contact after we explained the arrangements to her) we have already researched into old people make up and practiced it in order for us to apply it ourselves.

For the latter half of the film we plan to use the O2 Academy on Saturday 5th April before the band's gig during the soundcheck. If this is not possible, we have a number of other venues lined up to use instead.

LO2: Three objectives

Three objectives for todays lesson:
- Locate and book a new venue that is more suitable
- Find props
- Organise make up artists and book them

Venue Scouting

We decided to look into several different venues for our shoot in order to decide which was most suitable. The first venue we went to was Intake Scout Group Hall:


Venue 1

Intake (270th) Scout Group Hall - Venue for Hire

Intake Scout Group has a hall with stage available for hire, capacity 80 seated. The hall has a fully equipped kitchen and sound system. The hall hire is charged at £12 per hour (this price is supplied by the venue please check it yourself for accuracy). The scout hall is located in S12.

Service/Activity Details: Intake Scout Group Hall Old Methodist Church Mansfield Road Sheffield South Yorkshire S12 2AP  (View Map) Disabled Access Details: Wheelchair Accessible with Assistance; Wheelchair Accessible Toilet. We visited the hall to have a look around and to take some photographs.

We quite liked the venue, it was large and had a high roof so we wouldn't have to worry about the crane rig hitting the ceiling, a stage and a sound system to play the song. However, there wasn't a suitable enough space outside to film the car scene and it essentially didn't look like a genuine nursing home. After sending these images of the hall to our band we had a conversation and they decided it wouldn't be suitable for the video.

Venue 2

Chris said that alternatively, he could arrange for us to film in an actual nursing home. We followed him up on his offer and he visited the home the following week and sent us these images.

Knowle Hill

Streetfields, Halfway, Sheffield S20 4TB

We agreed that this venue would be perfect for our video shoot; it looked like an actual nursing home, provided most of the props and there was sufficient space to film outside. This is the venue we ultimately decided to film at.
